Turner recognized as Nation’s Largest Builder of Green, Education, Healthcare, Sports and Correctional Facilities by Engineering News-Record

Turner LogoDALLAS, September 23, 2009 - Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine named Turner Construction Company as the top domestic general builder with $8.7 billion in construction revenue during 2008.

In addition, ENR has recognized Turner as the nation’s largest builder of green, education, healthcare, sports and correctional facilities.  Turner also ranked second in the hotel, airports, electronic assembly, telecommunications, data centers and commercial office categories.

Among the more than 1,200 projects Turner had underway during 2008 included:

  • The New Yankee Stadium in Bronx, N.Y.
  • Yale University Health Services Center, $97 million, seeking LEED Silver Certification, New Haven, Conn.
  • The first major renovation of Alice Tully Hall since its opening in 1969, including a 5,000 sq. ft., three-story glass lobby expansion
  • Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., a 217,000 sq. ft. facility with theatres, studios and a concert hall
  • Chicago Art Institute Modern Wing in Chicago, Ill., a 270,000 sq. ft. art wing expansion seeking a LEED Silver Certification
  • NASCAR Hall of Fame Museum, Convention Center Expansion and Parking Facility in Charlotte, N.C.
  • Westinghouse Electric Company Headquarters Campus, $216 million, seeking a LEED Certification in Cranberry, Pa.
  • $52 million expansion and renovation of Eisenhower Medical Center’s Tennity Emergency Department and The Greg and Stacy Renker Pavilion in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
  • $105 million Lucas County Arena, which is seeking LEED Certification in Toledo, Ohio
  • $18 million Asa E. Low Intermediate School and the $27.6 million Lisa Jobe Middle School serving a total of 2,000 students for the Mansfield Independent School District #6 in Mansfield, Texas.
