BEN E. KEITH INTRODUCES SOLEMAR WINE
COLLECTION FROM VENEZIA, ITALY
DALLAS – August 26, 2008 – Ben E.
Keith Beverages has announced two new additions to its Solemar wine
collection - Solemar Rose and Merlot. Solemar is imported directly
from Italy and is Ben E. Keith’s first entry into the wine segment.
Following the company’s successful launch of Solemar Pinot Grigio in
late 2007, Solemar Rose and Merlot arrived on North Texas shelves in
August 2008.
The Rose is surprisingly light and
fresh, with notes of bright red berry. Enhanced with flavors of
plum and currants, these ripe black fruits add a luxuriously rich
tone on the palate. Succumb to the light simplicity this Rose has
to offer and enjoy under the setting sun alongside your favorite
antipasto.
Not to be outdone, the Merlot offers a
classic, elegant, sweet black plum with blueberry fruits flavor to
go alongside its well-structured ruby red color. Notes of currants
and violets mingle with the warm vanilla and cinnamon spices. Enjoy
this Merlot under the quiet moonlight accompanied by a creamy
mushroom risotto, savory carpaccio or a roasted red meat dish.
“The additions of Solemar Rose and
Merlot show our commitment and faith to our growing wine business,”
said Michelle R. Byrd, wine sales director at Ben E. Keith
Beverages. “The Solemar Pinot Grigio has done exceptionally well,
adding new sales opportunities as well as access to the booming wine
industry. The addition of the Rose and Merlot just makes sense, and
we see it as an exceptional buy for a wine of this origin and
quality.”
Solemar, which means "sun and sea," is
produced at the 79-year-old Casa Vinicola Botter, a two
million-case, third generation family-run winery located in the cool
Delle Venezia region, in the heart of the Italian wine country.
Influenced by the climate of the nearby Italian Alps, the terraced
hillsides of Venezia are bathed in sun and sheltered from the cold
moisture of northern Europe by the mountains. The harsh winter cold
forces growers to pick early, at an optimum balance of sugars and
alcohol, producing the savory flavors that northern Italy is most
well known for.
