Uptown Players presents "The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife"

up_color_logoDALLAS – January 29, 2009 – Uptown Players continues its eighth season with the Southwest premiere of The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife, running Friday, February 13 – Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the KD Studio Theatre.  This production is under the direction of Cheryl Denson with music direction by Scott Eckert.

trailer-trash-housewifeWritten by Del Shores, The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife is a tragic-comedy about domestic violence, set in small town trailer-park Texas. The play explores the lives of Willadean Winkler (Cindee Mayfield), her abusive husband J.D. (TA Taylor), her best-friend LaSonia (Laura Warner) and trashy cocktail waitress Rayleen Hobbs (Melissa Jobe).  The play is scored around soul-soaring blues songs (sung by Crystal Ramon).

A delicate blend of frightened humor and pain, it delves right into the heart of abuse. Explosive one-sided arguments erupt and build, until one disastrous night it all goes too far, and the lives of those in the trailer park are never the same.

The production runs Friday, February 13 through Sunday, March 15, 2009, with shows at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays (no matinee of February 15). All shows take place at the KD Studio Theatre, 2600 N. Stemmons Freeway #180, Dallas, Texas 75207. Tickets are $25-$30 and can be purchased online at www.uptownplayers.org or by phone at (214) 219-2718.
